The Shakespeare MD23-AIS (V-Tronix series) is a high-performance, low-profile helical antenna specifically engineered for the Automatic Identification System (AIS). Measuring just 0.3m (approx. 1ft) in height, this "Squatty Body" style antenna is designed to withstand the most rugged marine environments while maintaining excellent signal reception for AIS transponders and receivers.

No. This antenna is pre-tuned specifically for AIS frequencies (161.975MHz to 162.025MHz). Using it for standard Marine VHF (156MHz) may result in high SWR and poor performance.
