Questions & Answers
Is this a genuine original part?
Yes, this is a genuine Shakespeare Marine product, the industry leader in maritime antenna technology.
How do I know if it is compatible?
This antenna is compatible with any AIS transceiver or receiver that utilizes a standard PL-259 connector for the antenna cable. It is optimized for all brands of AIS equipment including Raymarine, Garmin, and Simrad.
Can I use this for standard VHF voice communications?
While it can receive VHF signals, it is specifically tuned for the 162 MHz AIS band. Using it for standard VHF voice transmission (156 MHz) may result in higher SWR and is not recommended as a primary voice antenna.
Note: Coaxial cable is not included. This antenna requires a cable with a PL-259 male connector to attach to the integrated SO-239 base.
