Questions & Answers
Is this a genuine original part?
Yes, this is an authentic Shakespeare Marine product from their V-Tronix commercial range.
How do I know if it is compatible?
If you require a heavy-duty antenna for a standalone AIS transponder (Class A or B), this antenna is a guaranteed fit. Check for the "AIS-COM" reference on your current installation.
Why does my meter show a "short circuit" when testing this antenna?
This is normal. The AIS-COM is a DC Grounded antenna. It will read as a "short circuit" on an ohm meter or continuity tester. This design helps to drain static and provides added protection for your electronics.
Note: Professional installation is recommended. This antenna is supplied with 2 stainless steel clamps (Style 4715) for secure mounting. All data is verified via Shakespeare Marine and 4boats.co.uk.
