Questions & Answers
Is this unit completely waterproof?
Yes, it is rated to IP65. This means it is dust-tight and protected against water projected from a nozzle from any direction. It is suitable for mounting in exposed areas such as boat decks or external vehicle chassis.
What is the benefit of the "Isolated" design?
Isolated converters (Galvanic Isolation) provide a complete electrical break between the input and output. This is essential in marine environments to prevent electrolytic corrosion and to ensure that noise or spikes on the 24V side do not damage sensitive 12V navigation or radio equipment.
Can it handle higher startup currents?
Yes, while the continuous rating is 12A, the PV12I-RU can handle an intermittent load of up to 18A for a maximum of 2 minutes followed by an 8-minute rest period.
